Introducing Bulgaria’s pop singers

Anelia, Azis, Gergana are perhaps the best-known representatives of Bulgarian Chalga pop music, a mix of oriental and western styles. However these singers are only representative of the Chalga style, and there are many other singers venturing in original music. Take Beloslava for example, Bulgaria’s uncontested electro-jazz diva. Or Karizma, who produce quality electronic music. Or talented 60’s and 70’s artists like Pasha Hristova and Lili Ivanova, whose music remains popular even today.

We invite you to discover these and other singers through our large video galleries at Blue Bulgaria.

Blue Bulgaria goes to the opera…

Blue Bulgaria goes to the opera

We have added an entirely new section on Blue Bulgaria, featuring the greatest Bulgarian opera singers. Bulgaria has an established musical tradition: starting with Orpheus whose legend can be traced to the Rhodopes mountains, to famous opera singers like Ghena Dimitrova and more recently popular singers such as Pasha Hristova and Anelia.

Maybe the most famous modern dramatical soprano is Ghena Dimitrova, but other performers show the vitality of the Bulgarian opera tradition, such as Ljuba Welitsch, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Darina Takova, Alexandrina Milcheva or Vesselina Kasarova. We have quite a number of new videos featuring these great singers in Verdi, Rossini, Mozart, Handel… See more on BlueBulgaria’s video section.

Lots of new Plovdiv pictures added

countries in colors photo collection

Plovdiv old town.

While on a research trip for BlueBulgaria.com we took a harvest of pictures in Plovidv’s old city. Plovdiv is featured in our journey through Bulgaria for its Roman history - it was then known as Trimontium - and wonderful Roman ruins, including the Roman theatre, the stadium and the forum. But its old city also has a lot of beautiful Bulgarian revival buildings, like in Koprivshtitsa. Enjoy this new series of Plovdiv pictures and learn how to travel intelligently in Bulgaria with BlueBulgaria.com.
